About The Citizen Smiths

The Citizen Smiths are the UK's newest and keenest Smiths tribute bands. Playing Smiths music from the classic 80s period including music from the albums The Smiths, Hatful of Hollow, Meat Is Murder, The Queen Is Dead, Strangeways Here We Come.

Remembering The Smiths

The Smiths were quite simply the most influential band of the 80's. Seeded by punk (but turning their backs on it) The Smiths created a completely new sound and indeed a new genre of pop music - indie.

The heart of The Smiths was lyrical genius Morrissey and guitar legend Johnny Marr. Formed in 82 they released four studio albums and a live album - Rank. Read our history of The Smiths and Smiths discography on our dedicated Smiths page.

The Smiths live experience

Anyone who saw The Smiths live in their heyday will have it etched into their memories forever. The gigs were intense, transcendent experiences as band and audience revelled in the euphoria and gloom of The Smiths songs.

The Smiths split acrimoniously and hopes of a reunion seem completely doomed, due to a history of lawsuits between band members. Morrissey's solo career is still ongoing but any chance of seeing The Smiths live is long gone - except ...

"The Citizen Smiths recreate the joy, angst, love and sometimes chaos (!) of the legendary Smiths live experience ..."
